Explore the Towpath to History.
The purpose of the D&H Canal Historical Society is to preserve the unique history of the Delaware and Hudson Canal in Ulster County. With a collection of approximately 4000 items and a working replica of a canal lock, our museum tells the story of the waterway and the people who built and worked it.
The resilience, suffering, and triumph of the people who built the Canal, traversed its length by barge, and created the communities along its corridor are the backbone of this significant 19th century industrial transportation enterprise.
